Like you, I have enjoyed having broody hens and watching them raise babies. However, I’m overrun at the moment - which is why I’m here, lol. Black Australorps & Cuckoo Marans all mothering at the moment. 6 hatches thus far this year and 4 still sitting. 3 of those (Cuckoo Marans) are brooding for the second time this summer already! Appreciate your video. Exactly what I was looking for. I think I’d like to have about 1/4 of the hens who will brood and the rest non-broody. Thanks again!

Any issues with too much heat on the tomatoes? The arch is harder to protect with shade cloth. I know in our areas of CA we are about to hit 110 this week and days sustained over 107+ for two weeks. Ugh... I find my tomatoes are struggling in this heat wave. They are mulched to keep cool and moist. But the leaves are taking a beating with the uv index at 10 and temps. Just put up shade cloth. Though the wind is testing it. This summer has been trying in the garden... lol 🤪

@@leesmith5419 bell peppers are actually really tough to grow if you have hot weather. Mini sweet peppers grow great, but large full size bell peppers never get to full size for us. Full size bell peppers need temperatures ideally around 75-80 during the day.

@@AudreysLittleFarm Thanks for the link. I'm in southern Ontario, Canada (zone 5b, i believe). Just finished bottom pruning as well as rimming some suckers. I have never tomato plants pruned before, and have had a lot of rotted vines near the bottom in the past, a lot of fruit growing into late August that never gets ripe on the vine, and sometimes, the plants collapsing under their own weight even though I've caged and/or staked them. Looking forward to seeing how this works out.

We have 3 Salmon Favorellis that never go broody anymore. But the flip side of that is although they never want to HATCH the eggs they LOVE baby chickens. We have multiple coups and keep the babies in one that’s seperated while they’re getting used to outside and generally will put one of the hens inside. I call them MamaRellis. And if you don’t let all 3 mamas inside with the babies they are SO MAD. They won’t leave the coup and circle it like sharks trying to get in and go off on Hens that try to peck the babies through the fence. I’ve only ever seen the Polish hens hatch the babies but then reject the chicks, the Mamas are confused by peeps that have no feathers and flee but once they get feathers the MamaRellis are THERE for the babies. Still haven’t found a chicken to help the fuzzy peeps but it concerns me very little. They take every opportunity to try and climb my arms and jump inside my shirt for a boob nap. Evidently it’s warm in there 😅

What is far more effective and efficient with respect to multiplying mint plants is taking the cuttings and immediately sticking the cutting into another pot or the ground somewhere. It is a plant that you don't need to grow roots on by placing it in water first, it roots far more easily by placing a cutting in the ground. I keep some fresh cuttings in my kitchen to add to fresh tea I make almost everyday in the summer months and I also take cuttings and stick them in the ground around plants I want to keep mice and rodents away from. I think I have a 98 or 99% success rate with immediately sticking the cuttings in the ground. Whereas the cuttings I keep in water don't root nearly as easily even if I don't use them within a few days. Great video. Simply sharing what I've experienced over the years.
